MAGNIFICENT MUDROOMS!

Want a first time home remodeling project which doesn't require a plumber or electrician just a carpenter? Convert a small space into a MAGNIFICENT MUDROOM! All you need is a blank wall which becomes your instant mudroom. Add top cabinets to store hats, scarves and gloves, center coat hooks, cubbies, sitting bench for putting shoes/boots on and finally bottom drawers either open or closed concept. Upgrade your light fixture and flooring. I recommend ceramic tiles which are easy to clean and scratch resistant. Bonus features: storage baskets, mirror, padded bench, photos, pet cage plant or flowers (always real!).
Another great idea is to convert a vintage armoire into a storage closet for hats, coats, shoes. Add a mirror to the inside door.
Getting your family out of the house quickly includes organization and having a MAGNIFICENT MUDROOM. Go for it and send me your pics. ~Pam

BEAUTIFUL, CLASSIC KITCHENS FOR THAT 1950 - 1980's HOME.

As a Realtor my clients want an open floor plan. Removing walls in your 1950 - 1980's homes and adding an arch way opens the home. I love this kitchen because it now has a focal point: the center island. Meals can be served here, cookies can be rolled out on the granite tops or it's a great space for serving buffet style. When you add an island to your kitchen, it should be a contrasting color from your kitchen cabinets. It is a personal preference if you want the counter tops to match with the island, I like transforming your kitchen into a laid back "art gallery" so, I like two different counter tops, one light, one dark. Kitchen islands are great for additional storage.
Hint: Always consult an architect when removing walls. The walls maybe supporting which can be removed by adding a steel beam and using posts as supports.
