SOUND OF MUSIC FLASH MOB, CENTRAL STATION, ANTWERP, BELGIUM

A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails.
On March 23, 2009, a Belgian TV show was looking to cast a "Maria" for the musical: The Sound of Music. They sent word out to potential actors & actresses and with just 2 rehearsals filmed this uplifting flash mob singing Do Re Me at the Central Train Station located in Antwerp, Belgium.

I WAS A VOLUNTEER AT THE BMW GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP!

When I first heard the advertisement on TV that Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forest, Il was hosting the 2013 BMW Championship Golf Tournament, I was.....interested. The next time I heard the commercial, I listened closer and acknowledged that a Professional Golf Tournament had not been held in the North Shore Suburbs of Chicago since 1972, 41 years ago......I wanted to participate!

website and logged in as a volunteer.
In order to succeed the Tournament needed the help of 2,500 volunteers to provide a variety of duties; Marshall, Standard Bearer, Corporate Hospitality, Transporation, etc. I accepted a position in the Volunteer Tent; handing out credentials and uniforms, providing refreshments to the other volunteers, answering questions. I completely enjoyed meeting all the wonderful people who came from all over the country to help make this BMW Tournament a success!
The BMW Tournament will hopefully come back to Conway Farms in 2015, (2014 it is being held at Cherry Hills Country Club, Englewood, Colorado) and once again I will donate my time ;).

CONGRATULATIONS TO 2013 BMW CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER ~ ZACH JOHNSON!

What a fantastic tournament at Conway Farms, Lake Forest, Illinois! The North Shore suburbs of Chicago has not held a professional golf tournament since 1972 and this past week having Conway Farms Golf Club host the BMW Championship was an exciting experience. Thanks to our persnickety Midwest weather: extreme heat and humidity Monday & Tuesday, cooler temps Wednesday - Saturday and wait for it........rain showers ALL day Sunday, the final day of tournament play.
These showers postponed play to carry over 20 pro golfers into an 8AM start on Monday, September 16th. Weather, (of course)was 100% co-operative: mid-60's, beautiful blue skies with large, fluffy clouds, winds minimal.

By 2PM, all 20 players including Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Luke Donald and more had concluded their play. The winner of the BMW Championship for 2013 after enduring the weather on a heavenly course designed by Tom Fazio; is Zach Johnson.
This is Zach's 10th PGA TOUR victory. Zach takes home $1,440,000 and the coveted BMW Championship trophy. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, February 24, 1976 (37 years old), 5'11", 160 lbs, pro golfer since 1998, Zach is used to our temper mental weather changes. So, congrats to a fellow Mid-Westerner!

BMW CHAMPIONSHIP ~ 2013 GARDNER HEIDRICK PRO-AM HELD AT CONWAY FARMS, LAKE FOREST, IL

Golf is a rare sport that allows you the unique opportunity to play along side a professional athlete. The BMW Championship offered that chance September 11th, 2013 to everyday golfers who qualified. Requirements included: a minimum of 18 handicap and an playing fee of $9,000 per player. Participants were chosen by a drawing held September 10th. These amateur golfers played with one of the top 70 PGA TOUR professionals in groups of 3 at the BMW Championship Golf Tournament which is being held September 9th - 15th at Conway Farms Golf Club, Lake Forest, Il.

I attended the Pro-Am yesterday with my husband and took some photos of the course and pros with their amateurs.
The Pro-Am is a great way to see a pro up close with out all the crowds. They allow pictures to be taken on this day, after the Pro-Am, NO cameras or cell phone photos are allowed. They respond to questions, compliments and sign autographs. An attendee can walk the course without navigating through the thick crowds which occur during the tournament. Daily ticket prices for September 12th - 15th are $55.00 on site.
